Terms & Privacy

Fotessa makes passport and ID photos. Your photos and your face data stay on your phone.

Privacy Policy

Your photos never leave your device. Taking the photo, finding your face, measuring it, cropping it to the document's rules, replacing a background and building a print sheet all happen on the phone itself. Fotessa has no server that receives your photos and no account to upload them to.

What the app does with your photos

When you take or choose a photo, Fotessa resizes it and analyses it on the device using the face detection and person segmentation built into your phone's software (Apple Vision on iOS, Google ML Kit on both platforms). On Android, one of ML Kit's models - subject segmentation, which tells you apart from a chair or a sofa behind you - is downloaded to the phone by Google Play services rather than shipped inside the app; that download is the model only, and it then runs on the phone like the rest. Your photo is never part of it. Each photo you take is kept in My photos, in the app's own storage on your device, so you can open it again; print sheets are written to the app's temporary storage. They go somewhere else only when you choose to share, save or print them yourself.

Google ML Kit, the on-device library that finds your face and separates you from the background, sends Google anonymous technical statistics about how it runs, for example the device model, the app version and how long the detection took. These statistics never include your photo, your face or any measurement of it. Google describes them in its ML Kit data disclosure.

What we do collect

Fotessa sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, an analytics service, so we can see which screens people reach and where the app fails. These events never contain your photos, any measurement of your face, or file names. They contain things like which document was chosen, how many checks passed or failed, and how long the analysis took.

DataWhyLinked to you
App interactions Which screens are opened, which document is chosen, which actions succeed or fail No
Device & app info Model, OS version, app version, language, to reproduce bugs No
Approximate region Derived by PostHog from the connecting IP address, at country level No
A random identifier To count one person's session as one session No

We do not ask for your name, e-mail address or phone number, and there is no sign-up. We do not use advertising identifiers, we do not run ads, and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

Subscriptions

Fotessa Pro is sold through the App Store and Google Play, as a subscription or as a one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google; we never see your card details. We use RevenueCat to confirm whether a subscription or purchase is active. It receives an anonymous identifier and the purchase receipt from the store, nothing else.

Children

Fotessa is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. A parent may use the app to make a photo of their child; that photo stays on the parent's phone like any other.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change affects what is collected, note it in the app's release notes.

Face data

To size an ID photo the app has to find your face. This is exactly what it does with it.

Terms of Use

The agreement

By installing or using Fotessa you agree to these terms. Fotessa is published by Monexa LLC. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

No guarantee of acceptance

Fotessa measures; the issuing office decides. The app sizes your photo to the requirements it lists for each document and checks what it can see: the face, the eyes, the pose, the light and the background. It cannot know everything an officer will look at, and requirements change. We do not guarantee that any photo will be accepted by any passport office, embassy, consulate or other authority.

Each official requirement in the app names the government page it was read from and the date it was checked. Check that page before you apply. Sizes listed as common sizes are not set by any government.

What you may do

You may use Fotessa to make photos of yourself, or of people who have agreed to it (or of your own children), on devices you own or control. The photos you create are yours.

What you may not do

Subscriptions, renewal and cancellation

Fotessa Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. The price shown in the app is the price for your country, in your currency, taken live from the store; it is never stored in the app. Where a free trial is offered, it is granted by the store, and the subscription begins automatically when the trial ends unless you cancel before then.

A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours beforehand. Cancel any time in your App Store account settings or Google Play subscriptions, not in Fotessa, because we cannot cancel it for you. Refunds are handled by Apple and Google under their own policies.

Printing

Print sheets are laid out at the document's physical size. Print them at 100 % (actual size) and check the 50 mm bar on home sheets with a ruler before cutting; a printer set to "fit to page" will change the size.

No warranty

Fotessa is provided as is. Face detection and segmentation are performed by your device's software and will not always be perfect; check the finished photo yourself. To the extent permitted by law, Monexa LLC is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, including a rejected application or a missed appointment.

Ending this agreement

You may stop using Fotessa at any time by deleting it. We may suspend the app for a user who breaches these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Mexico, United States, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Deleting your data

Fotessa by Monexa LLC has no accounts, so there is nothing to sign in to and nothing to close. Your photos live on your phone and you delete them yourself.

On your phone

The photos in My photos stay on your phone until you delete them: one at a time in My photos, all at once in Settings, or by deleting the app. Fotessa keeps at most the 30 most recent. Print sheets are kept in the app's temporary storage. On Android, Fotessa's data is left out of the phone's automatic backup; on iPhone, your own device backup (iCloud or a computer) may include it, as it does other apps' data. We never receive a copy, so there is nothing for us to delete.

Held outside your phone

How to ask us to delete it

  1. Delete the app. This stops all further collection straight away.
  2. E-mail support@mewai.app with the subject Fotessa data deletion. Include your phone model and roughly when you installed Fotessa, because the identifier is random and this is how we find it.
  3. We delete the matching analytics and the RevenueCat record within 30 days and reply to confirm.

What is kept

Apple and Google keep their own receipt of any purchase. We do not control those records; you can manage them in your Apple ID or Google Play account.
